Plan your getaway to Vermont to see the vast forests that cover the state, particularly the maples, which are magnificently coloured in the fall. Look out for the hundred or so covered bridges typical of New England but most prevalent in the State of Vermont; there’s even a museum dedicated to them. Don’t go home without trying the home-grown maple syrup which makes the perfect gift for the folks back home.
