Also known as La Ciudad de las Rosas, Puerto Varas is the gateway to the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, the Petrohué falls, and to Lake Todos los Santos. Three volcanoes are found nearby and skiing is popular in the winter.

Day 12-14 Punta Arenas
Travel almost as far south as you can to Chile’s most southerly city located on the Strait of Magellan. Punta Arenas is the jumping off point not only for travellers going to Antarctica but also those heading a few hours north of its airport to the spectacular Torres del Paine National Park. Before you leave, tour the Austral Brewery, visit the Braun-Menéndez Museum, Museo del Recuerdo and the Nao Victoria Museum.

Day 15-17 Torres del Paine
Be inspired by nature at one of South America’s most dramatic natural landscapes. The towering granite pinnacles known as the Torres del Paine lend their name to the area and are a must-see for every visitor. Glaciar Grey and its calving icebergs can be found nearby, but for many it is the sight of herds of wild guanaco grazing in the park’s meadows that will form their enduring memory.
