Two historic turn of the century properties were renovated and combined to form The Godfrey, a hip and trendy establishment aimed at a young clientele. Inside, it’s beautifully styled but eclectic, with Art Deco inspired lobby and an urban-industrial vibe to its restaurant. Private spaces are uncluttered and elegant, with high end finishes and plenty of amenities. Despite having 242 rooms, the hotel manages to pull off a boutique hotel ethos. Its Peruvian-Japanese fusion restaurant boasts an innovative and tasty menu. The Godfrey is located in the up and coming Downtown Crossing district, but is close to the historic sights of downtown Boston and also Boston Common, a few minutes’ walk away.

Make sure you have a coffee at George Howell’s, with both hotel and street entrances. He was a knowledgeable and passionate pioneer of the speciality coffee market in the 1970s and the company’s fair trade practices ensure a good deal for producers. The coffee’s not bad either!
