The European, as its name translates, opened in 1857 as one of the most modern and luxurious hotels anywhere on the continent. You’ll find it on the city’s prestigious Royal Route. Like much of Warsaw, it suffered extensive damage during World War Two but has been sympathetically restored to its former glory – and then some. Its most recent renovation has ensured the hotel is bang up to date and worthy of the Raffles name which it now bears. 106 rooms and suites are stylish and elegant, enhanced by thoughtfully curated pieces of contemporary art and round the clock butler service. Many boast a corner library with a selection of books in different languages. Guests are entitled to complimentary spa access; book a suite and you also qualify for complimentary use of the hotel’s limousines.
If you can’t make it to the Singapore original, you might be pleased to learn that this Raffles Hotel also boasts a Long Bar where you can sip your Singapore Sling. Other epicurean offerings include the Europejski Grill with a terrace overlooking the popular Piłsudski Square and Humidor where you can retire to savour spirits, chocolate and cigars. Delicious cakes and pastries are the speciality of the Europejski patisserie, Lourse Warszawa.
